The J-50 was the blonde version of the more common sunburst J-45. It was a bit more expensive, and because there's no sunburst to hide any grain, it usually received better top wood. Maybe that's the reason we often find J-50s to sound a bit better than most J-45s.
This guitar is no exception. Loud, big, with that signature deep Gibson bass. Just a great sounding guitar all around.
This one is likely from early 1960, but still has the big, round neck typically found on the '59 models. Starting in 1959 the then brand new "Adjustable Bridge" was an option on these guitars that came with an upcharge. This guitar has that option.
Action is nice and comfortable. The guitar has never had a neck reset and doesn't need one. Frets are original and in good shape. In short, this j-50 is ready to be played and needs nothing.
The only repair it's had done is the typical pickguard crack that has been expertly fixed.
Case is a generic hardshell case, not original to the guitar.
